    • There are only days left for Gov. David Paterson to sign or veto a human rights bill that will help thousands of New Yorkers with criminal histories fight illegal discrimination. Contact the governor now and urge him to sign this critical bill!

    State

    • Congress will be sending $800 million earmarked for Medicaid to New York as part of a $26.1 billion fiscal aid package that President Obama signed into law this week. Gov. Paterson says the Legislature must return to Albany before Labor Day to approve his plan to receive the federal funds.
    National

    • The U.S. Department of Health and Human Service announced that it would award $250 million in Health Center New Access Point Grants.
