2008 Awards Benefit

Benefit Co-chairs Stephen M. Cutler and Brad S. Karp address the benefit attendees

Marcy Engel, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of Eton Park Capital Management, L.P., and, posthumously, Michael K. Deaver,former Deputy Chief of Staff to President Reagan, Vice Chairman of Edelman International, and LAC Board member, were honored at the eigth annual Legal Action Center/Arthur Liman Policy Institute Awards Benefit on November 18th at the Tribeca Rooftop.

Stephen M. Cutler, the General Counsel at JPMorgan Chase & Co., and Brad S. Karp, Partner and Chair-elect of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP chaired the event and presented the Arthur Liman Public Interest Award to Marcy Engel. Paul N. Samuels, Director and President of the Legal Action Center, announced the posthumous presentation of the Arthur Liman Public Interest Award to Michael K. Deaver. The award was accepted on his behalf by his widow, Carolyn Deaver and his daughter, Amanda Deaver.

The benefit raised over $390,000, helping to ensure that Legal Action Center can continue its vital mission.
