Get Help

Do you need legal guidance or services?
LAC can help if you are a New York resident who is facing discrimination or privacy violations because:

  • you have a criminal record, provided that you have been rehabilitated and are ready to move forward with your life;
  • you are recovery from or still suffering from drug or alcohol addiction;
  • you have HIV or AIDS (in this case, we can also help with other legal problems, including those related to health care proxies, living wills, permanency planning, and government benefits).

If your situation fits one of the above, please call the center at (212) 243-1313 and ask to speak with a paralegal.

Because we get far more calls than we can handle, you may be told to call back on a specific date for criminal justice-related issue. If you have HIV or an alcohol or drug problem, tell the receptionist; you may get help more quickly, as we have special funding to deal with those calls.
