Our Mission

Reducing HIV in Women of Color
Our goal is to provide a sustained presence to educate policymakers in New York State about the needs of women affected by HIV by:
• identifying gaps in needed services,
• identifying and supporting effective and/or innovative prevention and treatment strategies, and
• fostering community partnerships and collaborations to reduce HIV infection among women and girls and enhance services for those living with HIV disease.

• Black and Latina women make up only 29 percent of the New York female population but 86 percent of New York women living with HIV/AIDS.

• 48% of all new HIV infections in New York between 2001 and 2003 were among Black and Latina girls between the ages of 13 and 19.
